The Nigerian Northern Governors’ Forum has gotten a new chairman today, Friday 17th May 2019.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, was elected as the new chairman of the forum comprising of 19 members. This development was announced by the outgoing chairman of the Forum and governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima.
Accepting his new position, Lalong addressed the governors saying that the confidence bestowed on him will not be in ‘vain’. He expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Shettima saying;
“I’m indebted to you for electing me as the northern governors’ chairman. I will be stepping into the shoes of a very hard-working chairman, who is now moving to the National Assembly. I can assure that I will do my best not to betray the trust of my colleagues”.
Lalong’s tenure will begin on May 29th.
